The daylong Fuzetival 2008 took place Saturday July 19, at the Sterling Hotel in Allenown. This year’s event was bigger, better, more killer than ever with added motorcycle ride ‘n’ raffle, and rockabilly car show. The blocked off section of Hamilton Street was packed with people enjoying the outdoor stage and vending stands, while hundreds more crammed in to the Sterling to enjoy the bands performing on three indoor stages.
The love of independent music and that of their fellow man is the passion that has driven Fuzetival for three years now. To quote the Fuzetival Web sites, “By the bands, for the fans, to benefit those in need.” Fuzetival is what its name implies — a festival of the fusion of different music, bands, and people for a common cause. It’s an event that can be enjoyed for its art and for its cause.
Proceeds from 2006’s festival benefited the refurbishment of Bushkill Park after it sustained major damage following floods in 2004 and 2006. Proceeds from 2007 went to the Allentown Fire Department, as did this year’s.
More than 100 bands from the Lehigh Valley and beyond converged to take part for this event. The following are some of the bands that performed this year: 11s Edge, Altered Ground, Amedeus, Anamide, Bloom, Chemical Dependants, Comic Book Heroes, Half Lip, Hiccup Helen, Holluck, Rex, Last Evening, October Skyline, Overlook, Pullsh, Showin’ Tell, Solace, The 54th Day, The ‘Curds’, The Understated, Third Phase, Twin Phil, Vose, Worse For Wear, 3rd Side, Aztek Trip, Intoxication, IX From Chaos, Organized Confusion, Vlo, Self Titled, Solar Child, Father Of Sin, Ferrum, From Ashes, Heart Of War, Misery Void, Misfittoyz, Nu World Disorder, Pieces Of Eight, Plethora, Rid Of Waste, Terminal, Inertia, Warhawk, Alize Passion, Emac, and The Heavy Beat.
