| What is Shinbone... |
| What If... |
|
What IF... There was a monthly live entertainment magazine that was run by the type of people who actually have been in your shoes?
People JUST LIKE YOU, who have actually been in the trenches and over the years have chewed some of the same dirt that you do each and every day as you struggle to succeed... Add to that mixture a few music lovers who have CD collections that fill rooms and span genres, with a sprinkle of your typical nightclub going girls and guys and stir to a well rounded, balanced, publication. |
| What If... |
|
What IF... A publication cared more about the news value of your latest efforts, instead of just the advertising value you create for them?
|
| What If... |
|
What IF... This magazine was so intent on actually helping you succeed in the scene that they included in their website a human-verified database of clubs across the state and its border regions that includes ALL the information you need to contact each location to get your next gig? Information like...
Imagine you just booked on a big Sunday showcase in Binghamton, NY and your looking for a gig to fill your schedule between that and your Friday gig in York PA... Pull up our expansive database, and run a search for locations booking for your style of music by distance from a zip code, by genres accepted, even restrict your search to just clubs with in-house production! (or use our production database to find sound and lights in the area of your upcoming performance) or just show all locations available within a single county or by one of our 6 coverage sectors of the state and its border regions! |
| What If... |
| What IF... There was a music magazine that had an excitingly new, honest way of reviewing your material? A five to seven person review board, consisting of a cross-section of today's listeners and industry insiders. Toss in a random guest reviewer each month for good measure 'from the barstool'. Honest reviewers that grade your music on a scale of 1-5 for each of five individual qualities in a more personal 'American Idol' type of format (i.e.. Just because one reviewer may be a huge death metal fan another more conservative reviewer may see your song in a completely different way. Let's face it, the marketplace is made up of MANY different kinds of listeners, shouldn't your review reflect that in an open and honest way?) Our 'official' review is based on an average of our review boards scoring. |

Scranton based Times~Shamrock Communications is proud to announce to you the release of SHINBONE, Pennsylvania's ONLY total market coverage Music magazine dedicated to the Pennsylvania music industry and the musicians who work so hard to keep the scene alive.
Why are we so dedicated?
While some publications may imply they cover the 'state,' they fall way short of the actual 46,058 square miles that is actually called the state of Pennsylvania. While some publications say they promote the local music scene... that they care about the PA music scene... they still boldly point out in the pages of their own publications that unless you are an advertiser of theirs, they really don't care what your doing.
Do we want your advertising?
Does the fact that you choose our wide-reaching - and soon to be well-read - publication to promote your band / club / event / service / etc... get you on the cover?
Do we want to report on you as an advertiser?
Shinbone comes from a family owned collection of a long line of publications that have been publishing daily news coverage for many hundreds of years collectively. Large daily publications like The Scranton-Times, The Citizen's Voice in Wilkes-Barre, along with youthful entertainment based tabloids like Electric City and Diamond City, or award winning weekly publications like Baltimore's City Paper are among a few of the Times~Shamrock newspapers located across Pennsylvania and the United States. We will also back-feed our content into our daily publications and radio stations where appropriate. So bands will get even more high-end exposure when warranted. So Does it sound yet like we have been listening over your shoulder or hiding a bug in the practice room?
You may be asking yourself... "How do they know all the things we have been bitching about and waiting for?"
In well over 2 years in development, you can see Shinbone has been built to serve YOU! Built on a strong foundation of knowledge and understanding of the real needs of you and your band. But it does not stop with the services and content that we currently offer. We also understand the scene is continually changing and flexing, as do the needs of our readership... so Shinbone has an extensive advisory board of working club owners, promoters, managers, booking agents, production and sound engineers, and most importantly musicians who continue to work everyday in the scene. Our advisory board is in place to allow us NEVER to lose touch with your needs as we continue to offer our 100% commitment to creating a quality publication that serves your needs. And let's not forget, beyond our Advisory board, we want to hear from each of YOU! Your suggestions are welcome and we take each one very seriously. Have an idea? Let us know the type of magazine YOU think will best serve and promote the scene! What's your ideas, because it's your magazine! As for advertising in Shinbone - Our advertising rates are VERY affordable. In most cases our ads are priced much less than our competitors! Your ad keeps everyone informed of where you are each month and helps to keep those numbers at the door growing! Believe it or not, there is so much editorial content in Shinbone that advertising space (especially color space) is limited! We are going to have cost saving contract rates available on a 6 and 12 month basis. Also, please don't forget to support the Shinbone effort by promoting us at your shows once we do hit the streets! Mentioning the magazine from the stage or linking from your website will help us to spread the word quickly, and letting us know if you find a new location for the magazine we may have missed, will continue our efforts to get the magazine out to as many locations related to the scene as we possibly can.
I thank you for taking the time to read about Shinbone, and I hope to hear from all of you soon with your ideas and comments on the new publication. Here's to a long and prosperous working relationship.
